Euro Power Unleashed: 2014 BMW M4 with a One-Off Single Turbo Setup

2014 BMW M4 Single Turbo Build

For Garage Full Throttle’s first dive into the European performance world, we couldn’t have picked a better example than this: a 2014 BMW M4 that redefines what it means to be a street sleeper. Owned by Ash, this M4 blends OEM comfort with explosive turbo power thanks to a custom-fabricated single turbo setup from Hooker Fab. It’s daily driven, deceptively stock on the outside, but hides some serious firepower under the hood.

Exterior Mods – Understated and Functional

At first glance, this M4 looks almost stock, but there are subtle hints that something special is going on:

  • Carbon Fiber Front Lip & Rear Diffuser – Tasteful upgrades that add edge and presence
  • Carbon Boot Lip Spoiler – Matches the diffuser and keeps the rear profile aggressive
  • Aftermarket Wheels with Hybrid Tyres – Originally track-focused, now daily-driven, Hero tyres strike the balance between grip and comfort
  • Shockworks Coilovers – Specifically set up for roll racing, allowing for improved traction and comfort

Interior Setup – All-Day Comfortable, Track-Ready

The inside remains largely factory, which is part of the car’s sleeper appeal:

  • Factory BMW M Performance Bucket Seats – Supportive and road-trip tested
  • OEM Carbon Trim and display interfaces remain untouched
  • DCT Gearbox (7-Speed Dual-Clutch Transmission) – Maintains boost between shifts with lightning-fast changes; no need for clutch upgrades
  • Subtle Button Highlights for a personal touch

Engine Bay – One-Off Turbo Engineering

This is where the build truly comes alive:

  • Pulsar G40-1150 Turbocharger – Custom-fitted by Hooker Fab, capable of supporting over 850kW
  • Custom-Built Turbo Kit – Manifold, 4.5″ downpipe to 3.5″ oval section for right-hand-drive clearance
  • Factory Top-Mount Intercooler & Stock Intake Manifold retained
  • Stock Engine Internals and Transmission – Making close to 450kW with zero internal mods
  • Motive Reflex ECU – Integrated with factory CAN system to control boost, fueling, and safety limits
  • Auxiliary Fuel System – Additional six injectors and secondary pump for E85 capability
  • Metal Valve Cover Upgrade – Prevents warping/melting from turbo heat

Performance Figures

  • Dyno Results: 395kW @ 32 PSI (on a broken run due to tyre failure)
  • Boost Pressure: Currently running 37–38 PSI
  • Estimated Output: 430–450kW on current tune
  • Torque: Approximately 900Nm
  • Quarter Mile: Best of 10.7s @ 228km/h
  • Previous Best (E85 + Stock Turbo): 10.8s @ 212km/h

Owner’s Build Journey

Ash is no stranger to performance BMWs, having owned multiple 135i models before graduating to the M4. The goal was always to convert the car to a single turbo setup and explore what was possible with stock internals. With help from Hooker Fab and lessons learned from previous builds, this M4 was transformed into a 450kW daily weapon.

While the build was never meant to be permanent, it leaves a serious mark. Every part was carefully selected for reliability, performance, and daily usability. Ash’s favourite feature? The single turbo setup, without question.

As of now, the car is on its way out. The next chapter may involve exploring newer platforms or different technologies, but this build proves just how far you can push a well-engineered European performance car.

Final Words

The 2014 BMW M4 featured here is a street car with the soul of a track weapon. Blending understated looks with cutting-edge boost engineering proves what’s possible when fabrication meets factory reliability. With power climbing past 430kW on stock internals, this build shows how far intelligent tuning and precision parts selection can take a European platform.
